Competition instructions and rules - Please read carefully

In the unlikely event of the swimming pool being unavailable for any reason on the day of the race, inclement weather or road closures out with our control we reserve the right to change the format of the event. We would recommend that all team swimmers bring a pair of running shoes and suitable clothing for running in case the swim is canceled.

Car Parking                                                                                                           

Car parking will be in the Grammar School car park and show ground field opposite the Craig MacLean Leisure Centre. Please follow marshals directions

Registration (Craig Maclean Leisure Centre)                                                          

All competitors must register before 09:30. Race briefing in the Sports Hall at 9.40am. First swim heat will start at 10.15am. Teams will be in the first heats.
At registration in you will be able to pay your entrance fee if you have not already done so.
You will be given a race pack. This will include:

  • A race number and safety pins. This must be worn on the front of your top. Only Team runners should wear the number. Please retain your number to receive a memento and food at the finish.
  • A swim cap. These are colour coded and must not be swapped with other competitors.
  • Your heat number and lane will be noted on your race pack envelope.
  • Velcro timing band that should be worn on your left ankle.

You will not be allowed to change your swim wave, lane or start time.If you wish to start at a similar time to somebody else because you have some special needs. Please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you. Please let us know if you want to change your estimated swim time.

The Swim
All swimmers must be at pool side in good time for their wave start. Announcements will be made at least 10mins prior to the start of each wave. A short swim briefing will be given poolside before you start.

The Bike
Prior to the race your bike may be given a safety check. Please ensure your bike is in good working order on the day. Help will be at hand if a problem is found. Please mount your bike on the racks at your numbered slot and replace your bike at this slot after the cycle leg.
PLEASE NOTE : Roads are not closed to other road users so please ride safely and obey the rules of the road and Marshals directions/instructions. Please note that Children under 15 years of age on the day of the event must be accompanied by an adult on the public road.

The Run
Two water stations will be located on the route near the start and at midway. You will pass these four times as the route is out and back. Watch out for uneven surfaces in the Anagach Woods.

The Finish
Please shout out (or gasp!) your race number as you approach the finish line.
Please hand in your velcro timing band (we are charged for bands that go missing!). Results will be available instantly at the time keepers caravan. Hand in your race number to receive a memento and food.

Prize giving

The prize giving will take place as soon as possible after the last heat is completed at approx 3pm.
